【技术产业】AOL创始人投资的健康革命网站经营

Revolution Health, the health information company launched by AOL Founder Steve Case, hired investment bank Morgan Stanley to help the company raise capital and explore a possible sale or merger, Workforce Management reports.

The company Case (pictured) started with a big of his own fortune in 2005 had the idea of helping health plans educate their members on how to become better health-care consumers. But three years later, many believe the company is still struggling to find its niche.

In the last year, Revolution reduced its staff to 180 employees after laying off 50 workers in June and 60 in 2007. The company has said the layoffs were partly because of overlaps after acquisitions. In December 2007 it announced that it bought HealthTalk, a provider of chronic care information, and in April 2007 Revolution announced its acquisition of CarePages, an online community about for friends and family of those coping with a health condition.

After the second layoff, Revolution made it clear that it would be exiting the direct-to-employer Web portal business and would focus on attracting more consumers. However, one of Revolution’s offerings — an online medical records service — has seen a recent increase in competition with similar programs being launched by a Microsoft and Kaiser Permanente partnership and as well as Google.
