Australians discover male fertility pill
Research has found a combination of anti-oxidants and vitamins can significantly increase a man's fertility.
A tablet containing vitamins C and E, folate, zinc, lycopene and garlic oil has been found to help protect a man's sperm from damage caused by smoking and other infections.
The study conducted in Australia found that the success of pregnancy doubled in the infertile couples who took the pill.
University of Adelaide researcher Dr Kelton Tremellen, who conducted the study, says while infertility has often been seen as a women's issue, men's infertility accounts for more than 50 per cent of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments.
"What this medication does is it gives the men a little bit of - it makes them feel good, they think that they're doing something for their wife's IVF cycle," he said.
"It's not just their wife or partner taking all the medication, having the operation et cetera.
"They're actually doing something positive."
